New Year’s at Coney Island 2017

It’s incredible how many people come out to celebrate the Polar Bear Plunge at Coney Island every New Year. This is my 3rd year going to Coney Island for the Polar Bear plunge and this year the weather was nice and sunny. It’s always fun watching all ages of people go into the water to start off the New Year.

New Yorkers and tourists all gather around to enjoy the New Year together.

Happy New Year from Coney Island!

Battery Park - Fleet Week in NYC

It’s Memorial Day Weekend in NYC and there are a lot of activities to partake in. I decided to go to Battery Park to enjoy some activities, like watching people do pull-ups as Marines cheered them on, standing on Military tires to look inside these massive trucks and enjoy some sun.

One really couldn’t ask for a better weather day. My dad always took us to South Ferry as kids, and I couldn’t resist getting on the Staten Island Ferry. If you’re ever looking for something to do that doesn’t cost much money, hop on down to South Ferry and ride the Staten Island Ferry for free or lounge around Battery Park.

NYC Dance Parade

I stumbled upon this parade while I was on a quest to get to St. Marks to pierce my ears. I was having a moment as I walked across West 8th Street from 6th Avenue because so much has changed, so many stores that I loved were now gone. As I got closer to Broadway, I heard music and saw people standing around and knew that a parade of some sort was happening. It was the Dance Parade.

The Dance Parade helps promote all forms of dance, educate the public about its diversity and to celebrate every year in a parade down Broadway with a Festival. Dance is such an important part of my life and should be supported at all levels. It makes you feel good, builds confidence and is a great way to exercise while having fun.

I never did pierce my ears that day. I got distracted by the music and the dancing. For a brief moment it reminded me of what the Village used to be full of, diversity and different cultures.
